Installation of laminate flooring. March 2005

I finally got around to getting the flooring started, and chose Armstrong Swift Lock Light Beech laminate. There is an under padding to soften the feel and to insulate. Very easy to install.

I had to do lot's of notching and fitting to get the first row in, then it went easy, until.... I hit the other side of the trailer!

The finished product! What a difference it made in the appearance of the trailer. It is now liveable.

I used 1/2" aluminum angles for the molding to hold the floor down. They are of course riveted to the sides of the trailer and mitered in the corners.

For the door area, I didn't want the flooring right up to the edge because it is prone to getting wet, and having dirt tracked in. So, I created a space for a cool floor mat, and used some left over vinyl from my bathroom floor to fit in. It is removable by just taking out the mitered aluminum strips.

The mat fits in nicely, and can be picked up and put on the ground outside while camping.
