Repair of the leaking dump valve. Sounds like a Hardy Boys mystery.

The black water valve had leaked slowly since I first bought the trailer. Fortunately for me, there were no brown trout or other living organisms in the tank. It had been drained prior to my owning it, and any liquids had already leaked out. The location of the valve was of course in an easy to get to place... as you can see by the pictures.

This is it sandwiched in between the flooring and the back of the trailer. My years of training as a contortionist in a traveling carnival helped me get to the valve. for removal. (kidding about the carnival stuff.) When I grow up I am going to run away from home and join the circus.

This was the culprit. A torn seal. Not a Navy Seal, or a trained seal, but a torn seal.

The valve completely opened up for repair.

Almost ready for reassembly.

I bought a kit from a local RV shop and installed it. The plastic form of the valve started to crack in a few places so I used brass bolts rather than the self tapping screws that originally held it together. I used Locktite on the bolts to makes sure the nuts didn't come off.

Here it is being tested. I let it sit for days with "stuff" in the pipes against the valve. No leaks. It has been in the trailer for almost a year now and no problems.

That's it! You were hoping for more?
